Depressed? Have you tried meditation?

Always seek medical advice for depression, especially before you learn to meditate.

When you are depressed, sitting down to meditate is probably the last thing you feel like doing.

With rumination of negative thoughts it is sometimes hard to do the basics of taking care of ourselves.

It doesn’t need to be an hour long meditation per day, so start small and work up. For example you could begin with one minute per day. Just 30 seconds daily of conscious breathing is better than an infrequent longer session.

Even just having the routine of meditating can bring the positive effect of having accomplished a task.

Meditation is not always sunshine and rainbows and can bring up past events and emotions.

Often though, meditation can leave you with a feeling of connection with whatever you want to call it: a higher power or your higher self, and this can make a slight mind reset.

When entering the meditative state, feelings of joy and bliss are often felt and this can have a positive effect on your well being.

It’s a free resource at your disposal. It just takes the courage to give it a try!
